The Goal
The goal is simple: set myself up to pull in $15K/month by August 30, 2025.
The Backstory
I've done it before. I've built, grew, and sold websites, communities, apps, tutorials, all within relatively short turnarounds. You name it, I've built and sold it.
For a while I didn't have to because I landed myself a sweet FT job. And since leaving that job in October, I've been working on some lofty endeavors, partnering with some big brains, making large, long-term bets.
I want to go back to my roots, rediscover the joy of making a living off of a network of small, fun projects. So, I'm challenging myself to set up an ecosystem of products, websites, and services that will net me at least $15K/month. I'm hoping to achieve this in about 90 days.
The Plan
Audience first:
(Re)Build my audience by offering high-value free stuff. When you've got an audience, products sell themselves
Offerings:
Build, build, build. My 3 offering tiers are:
One-Time Sale
Apps and websites built for quick sale. I build a product end-to-end,
then list it on Flippa, Acquire, or SideProjectors. Let someone else
grow it.
One-Time Sale Considerations:
- Clean code
- Good design
- Good documentation
- Easy to transfer ownership
Recurring Revenue
Products that can be monetized via subscriptions, like a SaaS or a community. The goal of these is growth and retention.
Recurring Revenue Considerations:
- Target niche markets
- Focus on UX
- Good onboarding
- Look for network effects opportunities
Service/Gig
Small, standalone services/gigs that can be offered on-demand. For the
purpose of this challenge, I don't want to get bogged down with
long-term client work, so I will focus on quick gigs that can be
completed in a few hours.
Service/Gig Considerations:
- Always provide a free option with no strings attached
- Always overdeliver
- Follow up for reviews, testimonials, and referrals
Service Platforms
I'm testing out many service/gig platforms, and will double down on what
sticks. These are the ones I've listed a few services on so far:
- Fiverr
- Gumroad (Fancy some free advice?)
- Thumbtack
- TaskRabbit
